Master Alchemist Alyson Ackerman,
Congratulation on having revived the colony. I was inducted in '49, as I recall. Two of my brothers (now deceased) were also members. My older brother received a BS degree in “Industrial Chemistry” inscribed on REAL SHEEPSKIN! I recall visiting him at Northwestern and staying in the Chapter House of Alpha Chi Sigma in Evanston. He received his PhD in Organic Chemistry. I have a copy of his dissertation on the “Passerini Reaction” which is beyond my comprehension. I changed my major to math at UK so I am only an associate alchemist. I do have a Phd from Penn State in Mineralogy so I am a solid state chemist of a sort. I did not care for organic chemistry...it was possibly the impossible professor.
I will not be able to attend the conclave but really would like to be there. Back then we gathered for “smokers” at the Beaumont Inn in Danville and the Big Red Mile in Lexington. The good old days when the WW II Vets all got drunk and we drank Ale 8 One.
Have fun.
